9 Things To Do Before the End of Summer

The seasons may be changing, but there is still a ton of summer fun in Turlock! Whether you want to take the kids out one last time, or treat yourself to a solo adventure, T-town is still bumping to the beat of summer! Here are 11 local events worth taking advantage of before Fall starts:

 

WHEN YOU NEED TO COOL DOWN 

Public Ice Cream Making Tours

It’s still super hot out, and ya know what’s always a good idea? Ice cream! Head to the Hilmar Cheese Visitor Center to create (and eat) your own ice cream! Don’t miss the tour following the sweet activity! Fun for all ages, especially those “young at heart”. Heads up! Ice cream making is only offered as a fun addition during the summer public tours…which end soon!

STEAM* Works: Kaleidoscopes

After a reading of City Shapes by Diana Murray at the Turlock Library, kids will have the chance to make homemade kaleidoscopes! This activity will be the most fun for children in kindergarten and older. Yay for art!

Date: Tuesday, Sept. 4

Location: 550 Minaret Ave.

Time: 4:00pm-5:00pm

WHEN YOU WANT SOME VITAMIN D

BAC Swimming

Cool down with friends and the kids while burning some cals at Brenda Athletic Center’s swimming pool. Need some much needed “me time”? Sink into the hot tub and leave your worries behind! Don’t forget that BAC still offers Aquasize classes M-F at 9am!

Date: Monday through Friday

Location: 201 Tampa St.

Time: 9:00am

Cost: $45 for unlimited BAC classes + access to gym

Prep Your Fall Garden

When’s the best time to plant lavender? FALL! Where to get lavender pots? The Greenery! Get your garden ready for next Summer with help from The Greenery. We get the best tips from their e-newsletter!

Times: Monday through Saturday from 8:00am-5:30pm & Sundays 9:00-4:00pm

Community Pack Walk

Before it gets too chilly, take advantage of this opportunity to socialize your furry family member! Meet other dog lovers and watch your dog have fun hanging out with other pups. Thanks to A+ Dog Training for hosting this event! Meet at the corner of Monte Vista & Crowell Road at Stan State with a handy waste bag and a non- retractable leash.

FUMC’s Rally Sundae Social

The sun can surely get us feeling lazy, but FUMC is motivating us with an ICE CREAM BAR! After a long hot summer, it’s time to get your booty back to church for a new year of programming. There’s going to be relays, games, prizes, BBQ food, and of course some ice cream.
Right after the 10:30am service, head to the front lawn for the fun!

WHEN THE SUN GOES DOWN

Rosé Tastings at Bistro 234

$15 for four drinks?! You have to catch one of the rosé tastings at Bistro 234 before it’s over! Yes, all good things must come to an end…and this one unfortunately ends on Oct. 4. Make the most of the last days of Summer!

First Thursday Wine Tasting

Cheers to after-work dranks! Get classy at Toscana’s Blind Wine Tasting that occurs only once a month!! Added Bonus: You’ll be welcomed with a welcome drink, along with Toscana’s delicious appetizers.
