For this Big Little Biz feature, we spoke to Chris Oneth , Executive Director of Downey Park Counseling Associates! As our newest HeyFave, we are excited to have them on board and tell our community about this amazing local business!
Can you tell us a little bit about your business’ history?
Downey Park Counseling Associates DPCA started in 1977 across from Downey Park in Modesto. After the founder retired in 1991 it was taken over by Wess Ferguson and in 2018 by Chris Oneth. In 2022 DPCA opened their Turlock office right behind the post office. From its inception, DPCA has been a place where the faith based and non faith based can seek an understanding ear and gain the tools needed to work through marriage issues, depression, anxiety and a variety of struggles.
What services do you provide?
All manor of mental health counseling including Men’s and Women’s issues, depression, anxiety, church hurt, life transition, grief, failure to launch, and co-dependency. We see adults, adolescents, and children, male and female.
What is the most important thing to you as a small business owner?
The two most important things to me as a business owner is that the community in which we work is adequately served, and that DPCA be a great place to work. For one, we take a variety of insurance and managed healthcare coverage and for two, we continue to connect with one another in order to build our work community–with Turlock being a great place to do just that!
What do you enjoy about being a part of the Turlock community?
I have loved the small town feel working in downtown Turlock. I guess you can say we have become “regulars” to many of the amazing eating establishments in both downtown and surrounding areas!
What do you like about HeyTurlock that drew you to become a HeyFave?
Monika, one of our counselors and a resident of Turlock, turned me on to HeyTurlock–she had been encouraging me to become a part for some time! I’m super excited about partnering with another Turlock business and look forward to what exciting things are to come!
