In 1998, in response to a desperate teen in need of addiction counseling, Ken and Jane Muers opened their hearts and home first to a young man; countless others followed. Quickly, it became apparent that the need for hope and help far outweighed the resources available to families in the Central Valley.
Soon after, Prodigal Sons and Daughters acquired their 501(c)3 nonprofit status. As a response to rapid growth in 2006, PS&D moved to its current location on Olive Avenue in downtown Turlock, CA. After many years – and hundreds of lives later – PS&D continues to operate on the foundation of Christian values on which it was built.
PS&D provides education, intervention and prevention services through weekly group meetings as well as individual counseling for adults. For youth, PS&D provides Tactical Invention Program (T.I.P) – students are referred from Turlock Unified Schools who are caught on campus with drugs, alcohol, and vape/dab pens for 5 hours of drug education and daily activities. Upon request, outreach presentations on current trending drugs can be coordinated.
Our services are free to our clients through generous donations by local individuals, churches, businesses, and successful community partnerships.
