The Stan State Theatre Department will be holding auditions for
Ride the Cyclone on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, in the CSUS Mainstage Theater, from 6 – 9:30pm.

Director: Carin Heidelbach
Musical Director: Jamie Johns

Callbacks are on Wednesday, August 23, 6:00 – 9:30 pm.

Please prepare a one-minute contemporary monologue and a musical selection:
A 32-bar cut, or a complete song; either something from the show or your choice of a contemporary musical theatre piece or a contemporary pop song. If you have no musical selection, music will be provided to learn at the audition.

Ride the Cyclone contains mature themes. Please familiarize yourself with the story and the characters, and audition for whichever role(s) you feel best suited, regardless of gender. Some roles may be cast non-traditionally. While CSUS Theatre majors are given first priority in casting, other students and community members are invited to audition and participate in Theatre Department productions.

Character
Narrator: The Amazing Karnak: a mechanical fortune-telling machine. A deep rumbling baritone voice, with a steady, measured, calm inflection that exudes gravitas, but is never pushed to comedic extremes. There is no archness in the voice. Think an ominous, mechanical Santa Claus—or God—or Hal 3000.

The Choir
Ocean O’Connell Rosenberg, 17: Belter, Alto/Soprano
Mischa Bachinski, 18: Rapper/Folksinger, Baritone, needs a Ukrainian dialect.
Noel Gruber, 17: Smooth cabaret voice, Tenor
Ricky Potts, 17: Rock voice, Baritone
Constance Blackwood, 17: Rock voice, Alto
Jane Doe, 17?: Classical/Operatic voice, Soprano

Rehearsals will begin on Thursday, Aug. 24, and will generally be Sunday-Thursday until technical rehearsals begin. Performances are on Oct. 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, and 21.

If you have questions, please contact [email protected] or [email protected], or simply come to the Mainstage
Theatre lobby on Tuesday, August 22 at 6:00 pm.
